The original video by Cindy Sherman is a commentary on objectifying women, on their perceived paper thin substance as dolls. I chose to reenact this video with a baby girl as a commentary on the ambivalence towards parenting and a political/religous environment that concentrates more on the war against contraception than the continued degredation of the education system and its funding. I chose to film this on a typical home camera, a baby crib sheet as a backdrop... under bright, harsh florescent spot light... the strobing of the bulb, imperceivable to the naked eye but captured by the camera contributes to the institutional anestetic quality of the video.
